Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios on 66
Tulsa, OK
A Tulsa Route 66 gift shop inside a restored 1950s gas station where local art, jewelry, apparel and Mother Road souvenirs spill into a permanent roadside scene guarded by a 21-foot space cowboy and 19-foot space cowgirl.
Buck Atom’s turns an active souvenir and local-art shop into its own modern Route 66 roadside attraction through a restored filling-station setting and giant custom Muffler Men.
Field notes
Why it belongs
Route 66 retail, art and jewelry, restored gas-station architecture and enormous permanent roadside sculptures integrated into the shop property.
A compact active souvenir shop expands into a full roadside environment through local art, a restored filling station and two giant custom characters outside.
Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios occupies a restored 1950s service-station property on Tulsa’s Route 66, selling apparel, art, jewelry, souvenirs and locally themed gifts. Outside, the shop’s fictional space-cowboy mascot becomes literal roadside architecture in the form of the roughly 21-foot Buck Atom Muffler Man, joined by the roughly 19-foot Stella Atom space cowgirl. Nearby food, lodging and neighboring retail operations remain separate; the store and its giant figures already satisfy the experiential-retail exception.
