Field notes
Why it belongs
Architectural salvage, building materials, furniture, appliances, lighting, décor, art, collectibles, and nonprofit reuse operations.
Few stores let someone shop for a stained-glass window, a kitchen cabinet, a chandelier, a sofa, reclaimed lumber, and an oversized architectural fragment under one roof.
Second Chance recovers reusable materials and household goods through building deconstruction and donations, then places them inside an expansive Baltimore warehouse. Shoppers may encounter doors, windows, mantels, lumber, flooring, cabinets, appliances, bathroom fixtures, chandeliers, sofas, artwork, collectibles, and architectural pieces during the same visit. Inventory changes constantly, making the store feel closer to an indoor salvage expedition than a conventional home-goods retailer.
