Lincoln's 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar & Gift Shop

Haugan, MT

An I-90 gift shop and travel stop built around a barroom covered in 50,000+ donated dollar coins, with Montana souvenirs and collectibles sharing the property with a restaurant, 24-hour fuel and convenience store, motel and one of the West's strangest long-running roadside collections.

Lincoln's 50,000 Silver Dollar turned a 1952 bar-top gimmick into an entire Montana travel complex where the growing coin collection is surrounded by retail, food, fuel and lodging.

Field notes

Why it belongs

Gift shop, collectible store, souvenir market, restaurant, bar, convenience store, fuel stop, motel and roadside coin museum or attraction.

A working travel stop surrounds a still-growing, visitor-donated wall-and-bar collection with substantial gift retail, food, fuel and lodging at one exact highway property.

Lincoln's Silver Dollar tradition began in 1952 when the first coin was embedded in the bar. The business eventually moved to its current Haugan location at I-90 Exit 16 in 1976, and the collection has since grown beyond the 50,000-dollar name that remains on the signs. Today the complex combines a Montana gift and souvenir shop with the coin-covered barroom, restaurant, 24-hour fuel and convenience operation and motel. Exact coin totals continue changing, so OddStops preserves the 50,000+ framing rather than freezing a temporary count.
