MacKenzie-Childs Aurora

Aurora, NY

A Finger Lakes design destination where the company's colorful pottery and home furnishings share a large farm setting with an outlet, vintage pieces, a year-round Christmas shop, a fanciful visitor pavilion and reserved tours through a decorated late-1800s farmhouse.

MacKenzie-Childs Aurora turns a working design and pottery campus into a multi-part retail destination with studio shopping, outlet finds, gardens and a tourable showpiece farmhouse.

Field notes

Why it belongs

Design flagship, working pottery campus, outlet and vintage shop, year-round Christmas retail, garden destination, visitor pavilion and reservation-based showhouse tour.

A substantial home-goods store expands into a full creative campus with production, unusual outlet inventory, gardens and a highly decorated historic farmhouse visitors can tour.

MacKenzie-Childs' Aurora campus is the company's home base and a destination-scale shop for its patterned pottery, furniture, lighting, textiles, garden pieces and gifts. The current store mixes full-price collections with outlet merchandise, samples, seconds, discontinued and vintage pieces, plus a year-round Christmas area. Visitors can also see the Petit Palais visitor pavilion and book a free guided tour of the 15-room late-1800s Farmhouse, whose rooms are decorated as a changing showcase rather than a separate retail store. The company says nearly all of its pottery is made in Aurora; furniture production varies by item and is not represented as entirely local.
