New Mexico field entry

McGinn's PistachioLand

Alamogordo, NM

An Alamogordo pistachio farm where the orchard feeds a sprawling country store, candy and ice-cream operation, winery and tasting room, while motorized farm tours roll past the trees beneath a roughly 30-foot pistachio roadside monument.

McGinn's PistachioLand turns a working pistachio orchard and vineyard into a retail-and-roadside destination built around farm-made food, wine, tours, sampling and an enormous pistachio sculpture.

Field notes

Why it belongs

Working pistachio farm, food production, country store, winery and tasting room, ice cream, farm tour and giant roadside monument.

Working farm, pistachio producer, country store, candy and ice-cream operation, winery, tasting room, farm tour and oversized roadside attraction.

McGinn's PistachioLand is the visitor-facing center of a working pistachio orchard and vineyard north of Alamogordo. Pistachios and grapes grown on the property feed into products made, packaged and sold through the country store, where visitors can browse farm foods and souvenirs, sample pistachios, try farm-made ice cream and visit the Arena Blanca Winery tasting operation. Motorized tours travel through the orchard and vineyard to explain how the crops are grown and processed. Outside stands the roughly 30-foot pistachio monument that the business bills as the World's Largest Pistachio. Keep that superlative attributed unless independently verified.
