Field notes
Why it belongs
Historic general store, country café, old-fashioned ice-cream counter, upstairs regional-artisan gallery and scheduled bluegrass dinner venue.
Retail, food, local craft and live old-time music remain active within the same restored mercantile rather than being reduced to a static period display.
T.B. Sutton General Store anchors Historic Granville with a working store and café inside a restored late-nineteenth-century mercantile. Visitors find old-fashioned goods, souvenirs, handmade items, breakfast and lunch, plus hand-dipped ice cream, root-beer floats and milkshakes. The upstairs Artisans Gallery adds changing regional baskets, pottery, ironwork, woven goods and other handmade pieces. On scheduled Saturdays, the Sutton Ole Time Music Hour brings a reservation-based dinner and live bluegrass into the store. Historic Granville operates several other museums and preserved buildings nearby, but admission to those sites does not turn them into parts of this retail record.
