Waiāhole Poi Factory Country Store

Kāneʻohe, HI

Inside a circa-1904 Waiāhole taro-mill property, a modern country store mixes local art, apparel, skin care, quilt bags, ceramics, stationery, snacks, gifts, and Hawaiʻi-made goods beside a working traditional poi and Hawaiian-food operation.

Waiāhole Poi Factory Country Store adds a local-artisan marketplace to one of Oʻahu's most historic food destinations, filling the old Waiāhole Valley property with apparel, beauty goods, home pieces, quilts, art, ceramics, stationery, snacks and locally made gifts.

Field notes

Why it belongs

Historic taro-mill site, Hawaiian food operation, local-artisan market, clothing shop, beauty boutique, home-goods store, quilt-bag shop, art-and-ceramics gallery, stationery store, snack shop, and country-store destination.

The individual retail categories are broad already, but the century-old agricultural building and active poi and food tradition make the visit much more than a modern gift boutique.

Waiāhole Poi Factory occupies a historic circa-1904 building in Waiāhole Valley that began as a steam-powered taro mill. The current Hoe-family operation is best known for traditional Hawaiian food and hand-pounded poi, but in 2024 it added a dedicated Country Store to the historic property. The shop brings together apparel, locally made skin-care products, home goods, Hawaiian quilt bags, art, ceramics, stationery, snacks, stickers, accessories and other products from Hawaiʻi artisans and businesses. Together, the old mill, cultural food operation and modern local-maker store create a destination that crosses retail, food and living history.
